God answered my prayer in the most humble way possible. It wasn’t extraordinary, but simple, gentle, and very organic. Bread was my answer. What’s yours?

There was a season when I found myself asking the Lord a simple question:
“How can I help contribute financially to my family while still being at home with my kids?”
I wanted to be present for my family, but I also wanted to contribute financially. Like many stay-at-home moms, I wondered if there was a way to earn extra income from home that would give me the flexibility I desired while still feeling meaningful and fulfilling.
I prayed for God’s direction. I knew I didn’t have all the answers.
But God did.
Looking back now, I can clearly see God’s provision at work—even when I couldn’t see it in the moment.
It wasn’t an overnight answer. In fact, it took quite a while before I stumbled into bread baking, and more specifically, sourdough bread baking.
God’s Provision Often Begins with What’s Already in Your Hands

As I shared in The Microbakery Story, this journey didn’t begin with a business plan.
It began with simply doing what I was already doing for my family.
I was baking sourdough bread for my own kitchen, and naturally, I started sharing it with others.
The more I baked, the more I realized this was becoming something much bigger than flour, water, and time.
It became an opportunity. Although I didn’t know it immediately, but God answered my prayer.
As my confidence grew, so did the thought that maybe I could sell the bread I was making. What started as a simple act of caring for my family slowly became a home baking business that allowed me to earn extra income from home while continuing to be a stay-at-home mom.
I am forever grateful to my husband for giving me the little nudge I needed to take that first step of faith.
Trusting God for Provision

Looking back, I can see how God was answering my prayers all along, even when it didn’t seem like He was.
Even though His answer wasn’t immediate, it was exactly what our family needed.
I don’t believe bread will be the answer for everyone.
But I do believe the Lord answers those who sincerely seek Him.
Hebrews 11:6 says,
“Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
That verse has taken on such a personal meaning for me.
God first showed me who He is.
He is concerned.
He is caring.
He is present.
He is right there with us in the middle of motherhood, helping us navigate the questions we don’t have answers to yet.
If you’re a mom praying for financial help or wondering how you can contribute while staying home with your children, I want you to know this:
God is right there with you too.
I truly believe He is.
God’s Timing Develops Us Before the Blessing

The second thing I discovered was that God isn’t trying to withhold answers or blessings.
He’s deeply invested in the process.
Sometimes we need to grow into the person who is ready for the opportunity He’s preparing.
Sometimes our skills, confidence, patience, and faith all need to mature before we receive the answer we’ve been praying for.
That’s why this journey is still a walk of faith.
One small step at a time.
Bread Was God’s Answer for Me. What’s Yours?

God answered my prayer, one loaf at a time.
Your answer may look completely different.
Maybe it’s baking.
Maybe it’s sewing.
Maybe it’s creating digital products.
Maybe it’s teaching music lessons.
Maybe your answer is a craft you’ve enjoyed for years.
Maybe it’s a skill you’ve developed without realizing other people would gladly pay for it.
So many women searching for stay-at-home mom income overlook the gifts God has already placed in their hands.
Sometimes we’re so busy looking for big opportunities that we miss the ordinary ones.
The gifts He’s given you…
The skills you’ve developed…
The hobbies you genuinely enjoy…
Those may be the very beginning of something that blesses your family financially.
Whether it’s a home baking business, selling handmade products, freelancing, tutoring, or another way to work from home as a mom, God can use ordinary gifts in extraordinary ways.
I’m not saying every idea will become a thriving business overnight.
Building anything worthwhile takes prayer, patience, learning, and time.
But I do believe God delights in leading us one faithful step at a time.
A Prayer for Moms Trusting God for Provision

If finances are tight and you’re wondering how you can contribute while still being present with your children, I want to encourage you to ask God this simple question:
“Lord, what is my bread?”
What’s the thing You’ve created me to do that could help my family financially?
What have You already placed in my hands?
Help me to see it.
What gifts have You given me that I can use to serve others?
Help me not to be afraid to charge what my work is worth.
What opportunity have I overlooked because it seems too ordinary?
Show me the value I can offer to others.
Don’t underestimate small beginnings.
God often uses ordinary things to accomplish extraordinary purposes.
Throughout Scripture we see Him doing exactly that.
One of my favorite verses that has encouraged me throughout this entire bread business journey is 1 Corinthians 1:27:
“But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.”
My prayer is that God gives you wisdom to recognize your answer, courage to take the first step, and faith to trust Him with the outcome.
Because just as bread was God’s answer for me, I believe He has an answer for you too.
