Tips for Making Homemade Turkey Broth Soup
- Make sure you have plenty of storage for the bone broth you will make from the turkey carcass.
- Saute the onions and garlic first to give the soup the most flavor.
Ingredients:
- 1 fresh garlic bulb
- 3-4 large onions (you can always add more)
- 3-4 celery stalks
- 5 large organic carrots
- 1 pound of turkey or chicken cut into small cubes (You can pre-cook your meat or add it to your soup raw and allow the meat to cook in the soup).
- 1 tbsp of butter or oil for sauteing
- fresh parsley for garnishing

- Large heavy bottom stock pot, dutch oven or you can prepare in an instant pot
- Cutting board
- Vegetable peeler
- Large spoon
How to Make This Delicious Turkey Soup
- Finely chop garlic and onions.
2. Saute garlic and onions on low over butter or oil. This first step is crucial for setting up your soup with great flavor!
3. Chop carrots and celery and add to sauteed garlic and onions. Season vegetables, cover with a lid, and saute until vegetables are soft. Add a bit more cooking fat if you need to.
4. After the vegetables are tender, pour in the turkey bone broth. Feel free the add a few more seasonings to the vegetable broth mixture at this point. One of the keys to great-tasting soup is to lightly season each addition to the soup.
5. Add in the fresh or previously frozen turkey bone broth.
6. Once you have poured the turkey broth into the pot, add the turkey or chicken meat to the soup. Allow to simmer on medium-low heat for at least 30 minutes. You can leave your soup simmering for longer if you wish. Just make sure to turn your stove down on the lowest setting and watch for overcooking.
7. When you’re ready to serve add fresh parsley and enjoy!

A high-quality bone broth is okay if you’re in a pinch for time. Keep in mind, when you purchase a commercial bone broth you can only go by what’s on the label. Vs., making your homemade bone broth that allows you to control the ingredients inside your broth.
How long does homemade turkey broth last in the freezer?
You can simply seal the broth in a freezer-proof container, freezer gallon storage bags work great for this method. Label and date, storage life is up to 6 months.
